The Bribery Act…..Are you ready
Over recent months businesses have had to become familiar with the content of The Bribery Act 2010, but do we really understand its implications, what it means to us as individuals and the impact it will have on day to day business practices?
Scheduled to come into force in July 2011, the Act is designed to
modernise and consolidate the existing laws on bribery and creates
a number of new offences relating to the giving and receiving of
bribes, including the corporate offence of failing to prevent
bribery.
The key step that businesses should take before the Act comes into force is to put in place "adequate procedures" to prevent those associated with it from committing bribery offences.
This interactive forum considers the background to the Act and its impact on companies, particularly in the science and technology industry and a question and answer session will help you to consider your company's current procedures and procedures that you should put in place.
The seminar will be delivered by Mike Rainford Head of Business
Crime at Burton Copeland LLP and Perry Lux,
Director at CBG Group plc who will explain the
insurance implications of the Act and appropriate risk management
strategies. It will be held at Liverpool Science Park, Innovation
Centre 2, (ic2)
Mike Rainford will discuss the legal implications involved for all
companies and their officers. Perry Lux will discuss the
insurances and programmes that businesses should implement to
minimize the risk of liability arising from the conduct and
activities of their staff.
