Liverpool Science Park's new state of the art facility
Following the success of its innovation centre ic1, Liverpool Science Park's second state-of-the art facility ic2 will open its doors early in 2009. Situated in the striking environs of Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral, ic2 will provide 40,000 sq ft of highly specified flexible office and laboratory compatible accommodation for the science park's expanding companies and for new enquirers.
Co-located with ic1, the new facility forms part of the 'innovation cluster' at the heart of Liverpool's Knowledge Quarter - an area comprising landscaped public spaces, access to university facilities and a host of amenities including theatre and restaurants. In addition to high-quality office accommodation, ic2's top of the range ICT infrastructure will provide hi-tech companies with 'plug and go'access to high-speed internet connectivity as well as a range of added value services, business support and social activities.
Internal space planning will follow the successful principles of ic1 with a range of unit sizes throughout the building. The high-quality materials and finishes of this fit for purpose facility reflect the unique setting and opportunity of the Cathedral Precinct.
The new facility has been designed to exacting environmental standards and will be able to generate 10% of its energy requirements on site through a ground source heat pump. The facility will have an excellent environmental rating performance under BREEAM.
