Directors flock to IoD Liverpool event at Liverpool Science Park

More than fifty directors from across Merseyside descended on Liverpool Science Park's (LSP) innovation centre, on Wednesday 15th June, for the Institute of Directors latest Liverpool branch breakfast briefing event.

The 'Attracting and Retaining High Fliers' breakfast event provided an opportunity for Liverpool business leaders to hear from LSP chief executive Chirs Musson, who spoke about the LSP plans outlined in the recently published Knowledge Economy Plan.

Through the plan, LSP is looking to help stimulate 58,000 jobs across Merseyside during the next decade - having earmarked development in the life science, ICT and advanced manufacturing sectors. This initiative is supported by the IoD in Liverpool and the North West.

The event was also used to discuss what Merseyside companies could do to attract and retain business talent in the region, to prevent a future 'brain drain' of Liverpool's most talented prospects.

Lorraine Dodd, Chair of the IoD in Liverpool, commented: "It was fantastic to see so many business leaders from Liverpool supporting the proposals by LSP. The organisation has set out its vision for Liverpool, and through the support of the wider business community, will help maintain the recent resurgence of Liverpool as a key centre for business and innovation.

"The IoD is growing in stature in the city and there will be a number of key IoD events held in Liverpool as 2011 progresses."
