Do you remember your first day?
Yes, I was very excited to be in such an amazing building. I went to school in Maryland Street many years ago so it was a good feeling to be coming back to this area .
How has the Science Park changed over the years?
It is hard to believe I have been here for ten years. In that time I have seen amazing changes. iC2 was still being constructed and we have didn’t yet have iC3. Since then, the Park has been transformed. Everything used to be all white and we had no real communal or break out spaces. I remember there were no plants so my sister wanting to bring in a white orchid for the desk when I started, so I approached local florists who offered us complementary arrangements for the receptions, which we enjoyed for several months and which have now led to more greenery across our spaces.
I have been fortunate enough to meet some amazing people who were here at the Science Park when I stated. I must mention Jean Hughes from a company called MC Vanguard who was the lady who passed my CV to the Science Park management team at the time. When I got the call to come in for a chat, I didn’t know my younger sister had passed my CV to Jean so it was a very strange telephone interview I had ! I was delighted when I got the job that I didn’t know I had applied for!
I must mention one company called GVC who were here when I first came to the Science Park. I heard that they worked with Liverpool Football Club so they became great friends of mine! Coming from a family of Liverpool fans, the GVC team arranged a special 21st birthday card for my nephew signed by his then favourite player at the time, Fernando Torres.
Do you have a favourite memory?
My favourite memory has to be the day Steven Gerrard (my hero!) and Jamie Carragher came to the Park to film in the vacant suites of iC2, which had been transformed to a recording set! They were filming 15 Minutes That Shook The World – Liverpool FC vs AC Milan, Istanbul ,and we were allowed to sit in the room while they started filming … one of the crew said they had never seen anyone smile as much as I did that day! I remember calling my dad who was the biggest fan ever and telling him all about it. Vinnie our security guard got lots of memorabilia signed for us by the team which made our day!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love the sunshine and getting bargains with Ryanair and EasyJet to take off for long weekend’s from Liverpool, which I can do even more now being part time. I enjoy getting to the gym as I must keep up with all my young work colleagues too!
What are you looking forward to for the future at LSP?
We have very exciting changes coming to Liverpool Science Park and am really looking forward to being here for a few more years! Thank you to everyone for making my time at the Park a very enjoyable place to be.
