BioGrad to offer COVID-19 antibody tests at Liverpool Science Park

BioGrad Limited, a leading supplier of clinical and laboratory based training, will be conducting COVID-19 antibody tests next week, which determine whether a person has been exposed to coronavirus.

On Wednesday 22nd July, between 9:30am and 12:00pm, the CE-IVD approved tests will be carried out within a clinical tent in the IC1 car park. All relevant health and safety measures have been put in place by BioGrad to allow them to conduct these tests in this safe environment.

Antibody tests are used to detect antibodies to the COVID-19 virus and work by taking a quick finger blood sample. A positive antibody test will tell you whether you’ve previously had the virus that causes COVID-19 and if your body has produced an immune response.

Antibody tests differ to virus swab (PCR) tests, which test to see if you currently have the virus.

The antibody test takes around 4 minutes to complete and results are provided 20 minutes post-testing by email.

BioGrad Founder, Dr Natalie Kenny, said: “By providing antibody testing to Liverpool Science Park customers, we will be able to better understand the effect of coronavirus on our community.

“We are pleased to be playing a significant role in combating the crisis caused by the pandemic and look forward to expanding our services by taking our pop-up testing clinic out on the road, in locations such as Liverpool ONE and Prenton Park, in the coming weeks.”

BioGrad’s capability to offer this widespread testing further demonstrates the outstanding reaction from Liverpool Science Park customers to the COVID-19 crisis.

From the University of Liverpool’s world-class research being carried out in IC2, to Liverpool Health Partners’ wide ranging research support and streamlining activities being undertaken from IC1, it is evident that our community are committed in the fight against the pandemic.

BioGrad, who are also based at Liverpool Science Park, have recently expanded their operations and now occupy the entire third floor of IC3. By enhancing their workspace during such a time of global uncertainly, is a real success story for the company which will also positively impact on the wider city region.

If you would like to take advantage of BioGrad’s mobile testing facility, while it is on site at LSP next week, you can book a socially-distanced COVID-19 antibody test here

Tests cost £36 per person which is payable online at the time of booking. Advanced booking is recommended, although walk up appointments are also possible (subject to availability) with payment being taken upon arrival.
