Cogita Development Open Incubator at the Park

On Friday 15th February, we welcomed Cogita Development to the LSP Community. Taking office space on the first floor of iC1, a spin-out from Chinese incubator and investment fund providers DongKe ChuangXing, Cogita has chosen the Park as their first European headquarters in a landmark agreement for both parties.

Cogita Development, a joint venture from DongKe ChuangXing and a local team, have taken occupancy of over 1,000sqft of office space on the first floor of iC1. The agreement, which signals the largest new arrival to the Park this year, will see Cogita Development base their flagship European office at the Park for the next two years.

The aim of Cogita Development is to become the primary platform to promote science and technology concepts between the UK and China whilst increasing both the market and the cultural exchanges between the two countries. Cogita have created an incubator for interaction, growth and innovation which will be supplemented by their own Angel Investment Fund. Their primary focus will be on developing businesses and entrepreneurs whose specialties lie in key science, technology, and advanced manufacturing.

The DongKe ChuangXing team currently have six sister incubators based in China and expanded into their first oversees site with the opening of a site in Toronto in 2018. Their original incubator was opened in the city of Wuhan, one of China’s preeminent Economic and Technological Zones. To this date, DongKe ChuangXing have helped develop over 250 entrepreneurs since opening their training program in 2018 and have invested over £100million in funding since 2014.

Their Liverpool Science Park office was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Christine Banks, and one of the founders of DongKe ChuangXing, Ye Yi, on Friday 15th February and was attended by several of the City Region’s key Councillors, the Education Consulate General of China, and an official from the Bank of China. The Invest Liverpool team first brought delegates from DongKe Chuangxing to the Park in the Autumn of 2018.

We are delighted that Cogita Development have chosen the Park as their European base of operations and are excited to see what opportunities arise for other members of our Community through these links. We look forward to sharing more information about their inaugural entrepreneurship programme later in the year.
