LSP: the home of entrepreneurial talent

We were delighted to see three of our tenants feature in the Liverpool ECHO’s recent article “35 under 35: meet some of Liverpool’s most high-flying entrepreneurs”. The article showcased Merseyside as teeming with entrepreneurial talent and featured Arc Hospitality, Go Get Me It and Re-Raise Design as some of the most dynamic business owners aged under 35 years old.

ARC Hospitality

Arc Hospitality is a brilliant example of a local graduate start up company that has grown and expanded at LSP, beginning life with two staff members and now occupying a prime suite with some of the best views of Mount Pleasant managing thousands of staff.

Michael Gavin, Managing Director, describes how “I started Arc in June 2008; I had just graduated from the University of Nottingham and knew there was an opportunity to supply catering staff at Liverpool FC where I had been working part time on match days in between my studies. My father had previously had a similar recruitment business so I knew a little bit about what it would involve. I thought there was a gap in the market for staff who were well trained, positive and presentable. The first year was fairly quiet with Liverpool FC our only real client. However, after a while we began to pick up more clients through word of mouth and the business began to grow on the back of client referrals.”

Every month is busy for Arc, but December is always an exceptionally busy time but especially so this year as they are heading into what promises to be their biggest Christmas yet. With festive parties gearing up all over the country from Billericay to Newcastle and everything in between, Arc have been reaching new heights in terms of both staff recruited and clients acquired.

Michael described all the efforts invested to make 2015 a particularly incredible year for the company. “Myself and Paul, our dedicated team in Head Office and London, and all our staff on the ground have worked exceptionally hard to get us where we are. With December being such a pivotal moment for us we are confident that our hard work now will create a strong foundation to build on in 2016.”

It is not only the festive season which is keeping Arc busy, sporting venues are also proving to be fair game with Arc now providing staff for some of the most prestigious stadiums in world sport. Twickenham, Old Trafford, The Oval, Wimbledon, the list goes on and as they head into 2016 it can only be expected that Arc should cement their status as one of the leading providers for hospitality staff in the North-West and beyond.

Go Get Me It

Liverpool John Moores University computing graduate Akhlaq, 34, founded Go Get Me It last year. The Liverpool Science Park-based online business draws on Akhlaq’s previous experience working in the services sector for BT and Centrica.

Akhlaq started developing the product at the science park with help of co founder Martin Griffiths in 2014, having spent last few years watching friends and family getting on the property ladder, followed by an array of complaints from them in respect to finding suitable tradesmen to carry out repairs on their properties at a suitable time. Akhlaq and Martin decided it was time to shift the way we find a tradesmen.

Akhlaq started designing the workflow on how the system would work, following this with the help of Martin and the team they built the first working prototype. The system allowed tradesmen to signup and provide details of the areas they covered and the times they would like jobs from the site.

The tradesmen could now signup on Go Get Me and the system would go away to validate the tradesmen’s details with recognised trade authorities.

Go Get Me It matches customers to accredited trades people in three easy steps.

  2. Select the sub type of job
  3. Enter your postcode

Click Go Get Me It NOW!

The system then returns dates and times when tradesmen are available with clear pricing.

The customer then has the option to pay for the services via the site, once the job has been completed Go Get Me It uses a two sided feedback system which rates the tradesmen and the customer ensuring that the work being carried out is to a great standard.
